NOTE: there is an updated version of this card called the Game Capture HD60. It can be used for the Xbox360, PS3, Xbox One, and the PS4. It’s fairly cheap on Amazon and it’s very versatile. Why the Elgato Game Capture HD? Numerous reasons. If not, please do that first, and then come back here to setup your consoles.

And sadly, those wonderful extras cannot be obtained without using your PC and some sort of streaming software. What do I mean by boost? If you’ve watched any of the bigger streamers on Twitch, you’ll notice they have pop-ups for their followers and subscribers and even death counters and any other numerous things happening on their stream while broadcasting. But you may want to boost your streaming experience for your viewers by using a PC and OBS. Another good headset you can use is the HyperX Cloud II or the Astro A10's.You might be wondering, “ Since I can stream directly from my current generation console, why do I need an Elgato capture card or to run OBS through my PC?” Well…StreamerSquare already posted a handy guide for streaming directly from your PS4. I use the same headset between both mixamps.

I have the TR mixamp connected to my PS4 at all times for when I stream PS4, then I have the Gen 2 Mixamp for my PC. You will need a headset if you do not have a microphone for discord. Keep in mind, you cannot use the PS4 party chat like this, but I assume that is why you want discord. Go into the mixer and select Monitor and Output. If you want ALL audio from PC and PS4 to come through a headset that you have connected to the PC, then you just set up 1 audio source for the PC sounds. Now that setup will not allow you to to hear Discord. I now use the Astro A40 TR with mixamp so I don't have to use the Chat Link cable anymore. I used this setup for a while and worked fine. On the PS4, you will have to set all audio to output to your headphones. The second source will be the microphone input which will be your PS4 sound. For me, the first one is the Realtek Audio which is basically my speakers so any desktop sounds or application sounds, including Discord. In OBS, you will need to set up 2 audio sources. This will allow all sound that you hear through your headset to be picked up by the PC, including Party Chat. You connect this cable to your PS4 controller, then one end to the microphone port on your PC, and then plug your headset in the female port. You will need the Elgato Chat Link cable. What cheap/decent PC gaming headset would you recommend? Would a USB headset somehow solve all my issues? I'm currently using standard Sony 3.5mm headphones connected to my monitor speakers, so if that's all I need, I'll go out and buy one today. What do YOU use to stream your consoles through the PC? I assumed that these different elements would be super common for streaming, yet I'm finding it difficult to find tutorials that cover everything. I'd also like to stream PC games in the future, so ideally whatever set-up you suggest wouldn't totally break if I wanted to stream solely from the PC as well. But obviously Elgato's software doesn't give me the flexibility that OBS does. If I use Elgato's software, the game audio is loud and clear, as is my mic audio. I managed to route my mic input and Discord chat into VoiceMeeter, but PS4 game audio was super quiet. I tried installing VoiceMeeter Banana and Virtual Audio Cables on my PC. I've watched a ton of tutorials on YouTube, been on the Twitch subreddit, OBS forums and everywhere, but nowhere seems to include all elements (OBS, Discord, Elgato) in their tutorials. I've had a week of fighting with physical cables, splitters, stereo Y-cables, virtual cables, inputs and outputs. I want PS4 game audio, Discord chat audio and my microphone audio all in the stream, and I want all this audio to ultimately go through my headset instead of the TV.

So I want to stream my PS4 (and other consoles, but let's stick to PS4 for now) through my Windows 10 PC using an Elgato HD60 and OBS.
